About Our School

Broadview Elementary is a rural, Pre-K through fifth grade school.  It is located 7 miles from Tims Ford State Park and 5 miles west of Winchester on the Lynchburg Highway.

Broadview School was first established in 1949.  The original building consisted of four classrooms, a gymnasium, and a kitchen.  The classrooms consisted of grades first through eighth.  Leading the opening of Broadview Elementary was Mr. S. O. Henley, Principal & the first boys’ basketball coach.

From 1950-1968, Mr. Raymond Yates was principal.  During this time, the Broadview community grew due to the development of Tims Ford Lake.  Likewise, Broadview Elementary followed this growth pattern with the development of grades first through sixth.  The seventh and eighth grades were moved to the new Junior High Schools.

The first expansion project to Broadview School was 1984-1985.  The addition included six classrooms and two adjoining offices in the front of the school.  The second expansion project was 1997-1998.  This addition included thirteen classrooms and a new gymnasium.

Broadview School has been very fortunate to have many outstanding principals serve the school.  Mrs. Flora Westbrook, Mr. Mike Foreman, and Mrs. Peggy Soderbom were all instrumental in the current prosperity of Broadview School.

From the Fall of 1998-2021, Mrs. Sandy Schultz led Broadview into the next Millennium.  During this time, Broadview added one Pre-Kindergarten class, a Computer Lab, and a new Kitchen with two serving lines.

Rhonda Stevens is the current Principal of Broadview where there are currently fourteen classroom teachers, Art teacher, Music teacher, P.E. teacher, Librarian, Speech/Language teacher, and Special Education teacher.

Broadview Elementary is proud of our heritage and excited about our future!
